Broadcom Says AI Chips Could Hit $230 Billion — So Why Is the Stock Falling?

Broadcom told the market its AI chip sales could reach two hundred thirty billion dollars — about one hundred fifteen billion in fiscal twenty twenty-seven and roughly double that in fiscal twenty twenty-eight. The stock fell anyway.

The quarter itself was enormous. AI semiconductor revenue more than tripled to sixteen point seven billion dollars, and total revenue rose eighty-six percent. The problem was the next-quarter forecast, which landed just below LSEG's average analyst estimate. Early Thursday, shares were down more than two percent in premarket trading.

The split across AI names says even more. Snowflake jumped more than twenty percent in extended trading after beating estimates and raising its full-year product revenue forecast, with its CEO crediting AI products for about half of the recent growth acceleration. Hewlett Packard Enterprise posted record revenue and raised its outlook — and still fell more than three percent after hours on supply concerns.

AI demand still looks enormous. Expectations are getting harder to beat.

Next test: Friday's jobs report. Private payrolls added just thirty-eight thousand jobs in August, while the ten-year Treasury yield eased to around four point seven seven percent.
